Exterior Style

The 2021 Chevrolet Equinox and Chrysler Pacifica are stylish on the outside yet decidedly different vehicle types. The Equinox is an SUV, while the Pacifica is considered a minivan. As you approach the Chrysler Pacifica, you realize this vehicle isn’t your mom’s minivan. The Pacifica features a newly redesigned sporty front fascia with a black mesh grille framed by wrapping LED headlights up high and fog lamps below. Sculpted lines along the body, a gently sloping rear roofline, and 20-inch Foreshadow wheels give the vehicle an athletic posture. Roof rails and dual hands-free power sliding side doors and rear liftgate are practical and convenient.

Meanwhile, the Equinox has its signature style. A sculpted hood angles forward to the angular nose. LED headlights, fog lamps, and a trapezoidal-like grille give the Equinox a challenging stare. Its contoured body features soft curves. The Equinox has roof rails and a gently sloping roof that ends in a rear spoiler. Drivers will also appreciate the hands-free power liftgate.

The Chevrolet Equinox features Midnight and Redline special editions. The Midnight trim takes full advantage of blacked-out features all around the vehicle and stylish 19-inch Gloss-Black wheels. When you study the Redline trim, you find contrasting black and red finishes to both the trim and wheels.

Interior Comfort and Convenience

Discover some interior features drivers will appreciate with the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica and 2021 Chevrolet Equinox.

Chevrolet Equinox Interior

When you look inside the Equinox, you’ll find comfortable seating for five people. All controls are within easy reach. Premium leather seats are available in a variety of colors and patterns with heating and ventilation. A heated leather-wrapped steering wheel is also an option.

An 8-inch touch screen handles all your technology needs in the Equinox. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa are the prime players that let you sync your smartphone and operate it in a hands-free way. Sending calls, playing your favorite music, and turning on your porch light are done with ease. Your Chevrolet Equinox can also turn into a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot that can connect multiple devices for roaming up to 50 feet away.

Chrysler Pacifica Interior

The Pacifica offers seating for up to seven people with its third row. Chrysler’s smart Stow ‘n Go seats are one of the finest qualities of the Pacifica. With the push of a button, both the second and third-row seats fold flat into the floor. Drivers can use the space under the floor to store items when the seats are up. You can also get the Stow ‘n’ Vac system powered by Rigid for quick and easy cleanup.

High-quality Nappa leather seats are available in different color schemes and stitching in the Pacifica. Second-row captain’s chairs are an option that includes a second-row center console. Alternatively, you could stay with the standard bench seat. A dual-zone climate control system keeps everyone in his or her comfort zone.

Technology in the Pacifica includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, as well as Amazon Alexa. Sending and receiving calls, accessing your favorite apps, and starting the coffee maker can occur with simple voice commands.

Powertrain Options

The Chevrolet Equinox uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams, variable valve timing, and direct injection technology. This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that delivers 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque while towing up to 1,500 pounds. Chevy offers a hybrid powertrain on the Equinox as well.

Chrysler’s Pacifica comes with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain gives you 287 horsepower and can tow up to 3,600 pounds. You can also get the Pacifica in a hybrid powertrain.

Performance Engineering

Both vehicles use a front-wheel-drive platform yet offer an all-wheel-drive system as an option. The Equinox AWD system automatically switches power to the wheels when traction is needed. On the Pacifica, the AWD system is more advanced. It is the only vehicle in its class that can send 100% of its power to the rear wheels when necessary. An electronic stability control system comes standard on the Pacifica. StabiliTrak is Chrysler’s electronic stability control system.

Driver-Assist Systems

Chevy includes Chevy Safety Assist, a suite of driver-assist systems designed to elevate your drive while keeping you safe. This vehicle includes Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking that work together to identify potential hazards and deliver emergency brake support if necessary. You also get Front Pedestrian Braking, which identifies pedestrians and brakes if you fail to react.

Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning uses sensors to track your Chevrolet Equinox within marked lanes, alerting you when you drift. The Following Distance Indicator alerts you when you are too close to the vehicle ahead. The Auto High Beam Assist toggles your headlights from high to low when oncoming headlights or taillights are detected.

You can add the available Adaptive Cruise Control functionality to your Equinox. This system keeps your vehicle at a preset speed and distance to the vehicle ahead while you’re traveling in traffic. Rear Cross-Traffic Alert is also optional and can alert you when vehicles pass behind you while in reverse.

The Pacifica offers all these systems as standard, including the Adaptive Cruise Control and Rear Cross-Path Detection. You also get Blind Spot Monitoring, which alerts you when vehicles enter your blind spots from behind. The 360-degree surround-view camera system adds another safety feature to the Pacifica.
